Photography as a medium for reflection on the world: it’s not only the visible that is fascinating, but also the how and why of our perception. Almost automatically, the question arises: What do we really see?
When we look at an image, we cant do anything but comparing it with our personal experiences and learnings. Only this makes recognition and understanding possible at all. Sometimes, though, we end up on the exciting path of ambiguity.
The approach in my work is above all: observing, taking up traces, giving serendipity a chance, trying to see situations in a new way. It means being amazed over and over again, playing with all the options and „looking at the world from the other side“. This is how we might obtain surprising perspectives – sometimes even something like insight. This does not necessarily have to happen on a rational level. Sometimes the emotional effect is more direct and therefore stronger.
